Hi there! I am a freelance writer who lives and breaths content on a daily basis. I consider myself to be a living paradox. An old soul trapped in a modern world. A self-proclaimed hopeless romantic and a professional over-thinker. I can't start anything unless I have my coffee. Writing has been and always will be my way of calming the storms in my heart and mind.

In the recent study, almost 50% of marriages in America end up in divorce. Familiarity breeds contempt and being with someone for a long time could take its toll. When you get to spend every day with that same person, you would tend to see a lot of mistakes and irritating practices that you have not noticed before.

Aside from overfamiliarity, the most common reason for divorce is falling out of love and growing apart from each other. That man that you fell head over heels with just eventually turned out to be a familiar face on your dining table. Do not wait for your love to fizzle before you take action. Follow these steps to rekindle your marriage.

1. Set Up Date Nights

No matter how busy you could get with work and family life, set aside at least a day every week to have a date.

Go watch a movie, check out your favorite restaurant, or just simply take a walk at the park while holding each other’s hands.

2. Incorporate Romance

It’s hard to feel romantic if you are covered with your child’s poop or if he’s super sweaty after he fixed your leaking faucet.

Make sure that you find romance in trivial circumstances.

Hug him from the back while he’s busy fixing that broken chair or give him a peck on the cheek while he’s busy teaching your son how to play basketball.

3. Write Each Other a Love Letter

Nothing could ever beat the feeling of being able to receive a love letter.

As old school as it may sound, it’s nice to read that almost incomprehensible scribble which declares his love and affection to you.

4. Surprise Your Other Half

It does not need to be grandiose, extravagant, or expensive. You do not have to wait for an occasion just to give your other half a surprise gift.

Take cues from your conversation and be attentive to what he’s saying. Did he mention how much he loved and missed that meal you cooked for him 2 years ago? Surprise him with that mouth-watering dish when he opens the door.

5. Take Care of Yourself

Just because you have been together does not mean that you would stop being attractive to your partner. Throw in that makeover, try that new hairstyle you’ve been dying, put on a new shade of lipstick, buy that sexy lingerie.

You should always make sure that you’re presentable and attractive so that his eyes will not wander.

6. Never Lose Sense of Humor

There is nothing more attractive than a guy with a great sense of humor. With the demands of keeping the house clean and taking care of the children and making sure that all bills are paid, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being monotonous. Find humor even in the most trying times.

After a hard day at work, he would love to go home to someone that he could throw out that big laughter with.

7. Fulfill Each Other’s Fantasies

Communicate with each other and be open to your wants. Be open to trying new things. If making love with a teacher has always been his fantasy, do role-play activities to satisfy those fantasies.

Be what he wants you to be.

8. Continue Flirting with Each Other

Being with someone for a long time does not mean that your relationship has to be boring. Send him a flirtatious text while he’s at work, give him that seductive smile while you’re having dinner, whisper a teasing goodbye when he leaves for work.

Always make an effort to feel the initial spark that you had when you were just started dating.

9. Take Out of Town Trips with Just the Two of You

Though family time could be a great bonding experience, always make sure that you have out of town trips without the kids. Take this time as an opportunity to get to know that is going on with each other’s lives.

Have a break from all of the parents’ duties and just focus on your partner.

10. Revisit Memory Lane

Seeing this almost bald and fat man may make you forget how you fell in love with him in the first place. We grow and we may no longer be the same person that we were. Revisit memory lane and be reminded of how crazy in love you were with each other before. Visit the restaurant where you had your first date, listen to that song playing when you had your first dance, browse those photo albums which capture how happy you were.

When you remember that this person is the same person that you were crazy in love with, it brings back all those strong feelings that you have for him.

Marriage is hard work. But if you love each other and work hard to nourish the relationship, only death could keep the two of you apart.
