Hi there! I am a freelance writer who lives and breaths content on a daily basis. I consider myself to be a living paradox. An old soul trapped in a modern world. A self-proclaimed hopeless romantic and a professional over-thinker. I can't start anything unless I have my coffee. Writing has been and always will be my way of calming the storms in my heart and mind.

For the past 9 seasons that we have let Ted, Robin, Lily, Marshall, and Barney entered our living room, this gang has also captured our hearts. This show did not only make us laugh, but it also made us cry, fall in love, felt hopeful, and all those crazy emotions. With so many situations and characters that we can relate to, it is without a doubt one of the best TV series ever created. Here are some of the lessons that we learned from the show that can be handy in our everyday life.

1. Nothing Good Ever Happens After 2 AM

In most situations, you are either drunk, exhausted, restless, or simply feeling crazy at this time of the day, and being on this state could cloud your judgment.

Don’t make sudden decisions and act on it after 2 AM as you may regret it the following day.

2. It is Better to Wait for the Right Person Than to Settle

We live in a society where the pressure to be with someone is too much. Most people would rather settle for someone less than what they deserve because they do not want to be labeled as alone and lonely. Be brave enough to know your worth and wait for someone that deserves your love and attention.

Use your alone time to improve yourself and accomplish a lot of things so that when the right time comes for the right person, you are fully whole as an individual.

3. It is Okay to Make Mistakes

The show has taught us that it’s okay to make stupid moves and wrong decisions. Don’t pressure yourself too much by making sure that everything is in order. Have fun and take life lightly. Sometimes, life can be tricky so don’t be afraid to make mistakes. At the end of the day, it’s not how right we have lived that matter, but how much have we learned from our mistakes.

After each failure, just shrug it off, laugh at yourself for how stupid you were, and learn from it.

4. Life is Full of Unexpected Turns

In an ideal world, our lives are in accordance with our plans. But we live in a real-world where nothing comes out as planned. You may have planned to go to the beach, but Mother Earth decided to humor you and showered the planet with so much rain.

Though it is important to make plans, acknowledge the fact that some things don’t happen as they were planned. Be flexible to make adjustments.

5. Friendship is What Keeps Us Sane

Each of the characters in this series has its own version of craziness, but what keeps them stronger and sane is the kind of friendship that they have built. The world is a much better place if we have a core group where we get our strength and motivation.

Surround yourself with great friends that could lift you up and keep you from losing your sanity.

6. No Matter How Many Times You Get Your Heartbroken, It Will All Be Worth It in the End

I have lost count of the number of women that Ted has dated on the show. His heart has been broken a lot of times, but he was never afraid to fall in love again. Heartbreaks and failed relationships suck big time, but it leaves us stronger and a better person.

One failed relationship is a step closer to the right one.

7. The Front Porch Test

When a new person comes in, the gang always uses the front porch test. How does the front porch test work? Imagine that you are 80 years old and sitting on your front porch. Do you see this person sitting with you on this porch? If so, then he passes the front porch test.

Before making any decisions, always picture your 80-year old self on the porch if she would be happy in this decision that you are about to make.

8. You Can’t Force Destiny

Destiny happens whether you planned it or not. So instead of being stubborn and force everything, just sit back and watch as destiny unfolds right before your eyes.

Whatever’s meant to be will be bound to happen.

9. Friendships Come and Go

We would meet a lot of people in our lives; some of them would have a special place in our hearts. Friendship may come and go, we may grow apart from them and not be a part of their lives anymore as much as it was before, but know that no friendship is lost.

Find a small number of friends that you can keep forever.

10. You Don’t Ever Lose Your True Love

Destiny has its funny way of throwing life at you, that you may not end up to be with your true love. You may love another person again, but you would never lose the feeling that you have for your true love.

Your heart may be covered by the love that you have for this new person, but the feeling that you have for your true love will always stay there at the corner. It will never go away.
